Jesus Christ Super ??

I was out in the car this afternoon, coming home from a delicious Thai lunch, when I passed a church that bore the legend "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) All of the sudden it struck me that Jesus is like a big spiritual bouncer.

Think about it.

A bouncer stands at the gate of a desirable party locale with a list, checking everyone in and barring the way to those that are not special enough to be on said list. Of course, bouncers in the real world can be persuaded to break these rules, usually in exchange for sexual favors, and I suspect Jesus has a similar policy. (He's a man, after all.)

So what is the spiritual equivalent of a hand job, anyway?

Say, something like staying in a church for twenty years even though you disagreed with the beliefs of the pastor?
