So, last night a tree fell down. It managed to miss everything except the power lines that connect my building to light and sanity. I suppose that's a good thing, ultimately, and as I looked out at all the other houses with their comfy cozy lights I thought about how the tree could have fallen on someone or someone's car, and I was happy.
But the power's still out, and there's no telling when it will come back on. They still haven't cut the tree out, taken it away, or dealt with the downed power lines (beyond, I assume, shutting off the power to them).
[sigh]
Please have your fingers crossed that when I get home tonight there's power on. Otherwise I'm likely to lose all of the food in my house (which was a months supply purchased just a week and a half ago) to the vagaries of decomposition. And getting work done will be a real pain in the ass, too.
Later.
