Brief Update.
Aug. 19th, 2007 03:04 pmI arrived in the new city around 4pm on Friday, but for reasons outside of everyone's control didn't get to my new place until around 6 or so. I started in immediately on unpacking and trying to get things organized, staying up until 3am to do so. Up again the next morning a little before 10 to continue and finally go shopping. Picked up two carts worth of "just starting out" stuff from target (cleaning products, toiletries, kitchen utensils, closet organizing tools, etc.) and took that home as well. I still need a number of things that we flat-out could not carry yesterday, so we're heading back (for trash canisters, more cleaning products, bicycle accessories, and other assorted sundries) this afternoon.
Target in a bonafide college town is an amusing thing the week before classes start. The in-store advertising is completely geared toward undergrad roommates - including a "you must buy everything" checklist that they hand out at the entrance - and frat boys and sorority girls are everywhere. Pickings can be slim as well, but I wasn't the only person there rockin' two carts of crap so that was alright. Clearly, the move-in and freak out on buying stuff thing is all part of the going away to college experience that I missed as an undergrad and can now relish as a grad.
Internet connection is still intermittent until I have my phone line and dsl/cable/whatever installed at the house, but I'll do my best to update as often as I can. And with any luck, pictures of my fabulous, gorgeous, wonderful new home (in its various stages of unpacking and decorating) will be available soon along with a whole host of photos that I haven't had a chance yet to get uploaded.
Classes start next Monday so the race is on. Thank god. I better make a list.
