Debating the Weather.
Nov. 8th, 2007 10:16 amIt snowed yesterday in New City (despite my valiant attempts at denial); not a lot, mind you, but enough to have me wondering what on earth could have induced me to go east. After all, the record snowfall in my hometown took place in 1888 - and that was a paltry 3.5 inches. It also sent me knocking on the door of the weather god for a chat.
Our conversation ran thusly:
Me: I thought we had a deal!
WG: What are you talking about? I kept things in this city unseasonably warm well into the third week of October and mild up until now, and that was just because we go back a ways.
Me: I know, but... this has got to stop!
WG: And upset the natural order? You know we can't do that.
Me: ...don't see why not...
WG: Teva!
Me: It would only be for the better part of a decade.
WG: Teva Jones!
Me: [sigh] Yeah, okay.
WG: Look, it'll be over before you know it.
Me: Uh-huh.
WG: Take that advice about the silk underwear; you'll be happy you did.
Me: It had just better be an early thaw, son.
WG: Have your people call my people, sugar. We'll do lunch or something - iron out the details.
Me: Sure, dude.
At least my apartment is well insulated. I haven't had to resort to the radiators to keep the almost tropical climate in effect, so that's something.
Oy.
