sechan19: (tormenta)
I think everyone pretty much knows my feelings on abortion and women's reproductive health care rights. Therefore, I'm sure you can imagine just how disgusted I am with the present health care bill. I actually kind of hope that Obama will veto if it finally comes to his desk in this condition.

A summary of the Senate health care bill and its comparison with the House bill can be found here.

In other heartening news, a pregnant woman was forcibly confined to a bed in a Tallahassee hospital when her doctor unilaterally decided that she must stay off her feet in order to avoid a miscarriage. Rather than grant her request for a second opinion, or weigh the fact of her personal circumstances (two toddler-aged children and a job to go to), the state backed him up. She ultimately gave birth to a corpse by emergency C-section.

The grounds for this action was the need to protect the life of the "child."

Seriously y'all, if having a baby is going to result in my no longer having control over my body... if a parasite is actually going to have more rights than I do for nine months? Then I will not have biological children.

And I have nothing against babies, or children, or even - for the most part - fetuses (although I think they cause a lot of trouble), but no one's going to have that kind of control over my self. Not for any reason. I really hope the higher courts put a lid on this and fast. But this is Florida we're talking about, so...

Anyway, I've got some cool (fun) stuff to post as well that I'll put up later. A friend of mine recently said that he'd never met anyone more misanthropic than myself, and while I suppose that's true, I don't mean to wallow in it all the time. ;>
