Apparently, the military operation that finally ended the massive, and almost decade-long, manhunt was in preparation for close to ten months. Seriously gives you a sense of the true intricacies of the government apparatus.
I'm too much of a realist to be unaware of the fact that a figurehead, rather than his organization, has died. Nevertheless, I can't help but see this development in a positive light. It's going to have intriguing repercussions throughout the political discourse, and I'll be particularly curious to see how the president makes use of this victory.
Furthermore, for some people the success of this operation will bring a measure of peace that has been missing for so long.
And that's certainly something.
