sechan19More than 700 antiquities that were looted from the Baghdad museum in 2003 have been returned. Apparently, the Syrian government has been arresting traffickers in the last few years and confiscating goods. They returned some seventeen boxes of gold daggers, necklaces, clay pots, statues, and other objects.
Of course, they suspect that as many as 7,000 objects remain unaccounted for - so 700 objects may represent only a tenth of the volume. Nevertheless, it's a step in the right direction.
