This term has a really interesting workload distribution. I have classes on Monday and Tuesday, and the rest of the week is basically free (although I do have roughly twenty hours of VRL stuff to do every week as well). Committee and rep meetings tend to be on Monday or Tuesday as well. It probably comes as no surprise, then, that Wednesday is often a significantly reduced-tension day.

Today I did some work in the slide library and then printed out readings for next week. I'm so glad that readings are nearly over, even though the fact that readings are nearly over means the term itself is nearly over, and--by extension--that I will have some serious work to do very, very shortly. (The rough draft of my seminar paper is due in approximately two weeks, although I did manage to push my presentation to the second wave and subsequently have three weeks to get that together.)

With that impending work in mind, as it always seems to be, I'm off to work on some translation. And on a side note, this article on examples of Thousand-armed Avalokitesvara statues in Sichuan in the 8th and 9th centuries is fully kicking my ass. It's easily the hardest thing I've read so far this term, and I've gone back to feeling like I'm stupid about Japanese (which I know is ridiculous, but seriously... this is really, really hard!).

Oh, yeah, and Gackt's new pv is seriously disturbing. I always knew he had it in him. ;>
