Encroaching Winter.
Nov. 16th, 2008 07:54 pmI spent most of the weekend indoors, which--with the influx of snow storms--was rather nice. I even got a bit of stuff done. I've moved my grant proposals that much closer to completion, I cleaned up around the house, I'm ready for the oncoming week, and I went over all my seminar research. I did not, however, start writing on the seminar paper. I'm just not in the right headspace for it at present, and I can't force it.
I hope to start writing the paper this week, and I'll finish up with it over the weekend when I'm at my mom's house for the symphony. I'm always able to be super productive when I'm there. If I get a start this week I'll be in good shape.
Things are getting tight in here, though, as we come down the final stretch of the semester. I've still got some serious projects to contemplate that I haven't exactly preferenced as I should. (But who really wants to contemplate a syllabus or a teaching statement, right? [sigh] I so have serious doubts about my ability to be a teacher...)
I probably shouldn't have taken time this weekend to watch a dippy-movie-double-feature, but I did and it was great. My friend B. came over with his copy of Godzilla: Final Wars and we paired that glorious monstrosity with the description-defying Battlefield Baseball. We ate pizza, ignored the cat, and laughed like crazy.
It didn't help me get my any further in my Japanese translation, but it was good for the soul. Unlike the snowflakes that were falling outside the window this afternoon...
...I guess you can't have everything.

(edited to try out my new snowy corvette icon, which doesn't look as good as it could, so I'm kicking it to the curb)
