I experienced modern and classical badassery today.
The awesome
alateaqoe read me the best quote ever this afternoon, from the wonderful Jennifer Aniston. (Seriously, I admire the heck out of her.) She said, "Just because at this stage my life doesn't have the traditional framework to it--the husband and the two kids and the house in Connecticut--it's mine. It's my experience. And if you don't like the way it looks, then stop looking at it!" That's what I'm talking about, yo. Go on with your bad self, Ms. Aniston.
Tonight's symphony was a Tchaikovsky extravaganza--two pieces that demonstrate the master's extraordinary virtuosity and compositional range: Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra and the "Manfred" Symphony. Both were absolutely delightful and absolutely atypical Tchaikovsky. I love standard Tchaikovsky (he's one of my favorite composers of all time), but it was really amazing to be able to hear pieces that demonstrate the incredible depth of his genius. He is totally, unquestionably, and fully the Man!
