1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Wrote a Masters thesis.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I wasn't really in the correct mental state last year for making resolutions, but this year I thought I might make my resolution 「一杯一杯します。」
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes.
5. What countries did you visit?
Japan.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A death-free year.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 27. My uncle died that day.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Writing my Masters thesis.
9. What was your biggest failure?
A lack of appropriate concentration or time management.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Gackt's Platinum Box V with the coffin clock special gift.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My parents'. In their own way they each overcame a hell of lot this year. It was an inspiration to watch them take the worst that life can offer and keep going in spite of it.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Pretty much all politicians'.
14. Where did most of your money go?
My mortgage.
15. What did you get really excited about?
The election, Japanese music, and the thunder god.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
"Smile Like You Mean It," The Killers.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
- i. happier or sadder? Happier.
- ii. thinner or fatter? About the same, I think, but my muscle tone is better.

Relaxing.

With my mother and a couple of old, dear friends.

Explaining Pictures: Buddhist Propaganda and Etoki Storytelling in Japan, Kaminishi Ikumi.

Emilie Simon, Wakeshima Kanon, THE BACK HORN, The Killers, and Portishead (rediscovered).

Classic funk.
