Why must sovereign nations persist in acting like kindergarteners?

A recent news item details how talks between Japan and North Korea on the subject of nuclear disarmament have stalled out largely due to both nation's refusal to acknowledge wrong-doing done to the other nation. Japan wants North Korea to apologize for the kidnapping of its citizens during the 1970s and 80s. North Korea won't do this unless Japan apologizes for its actions during the colonial period of 1910 to 1945. Japan, of course, sees no reason to give ground unless the North Koreans do and vice-versa.

And around the merry-go-round we fucking go.

I mean, for god's sake, both nations have something to apologize for. Granted. But they should either both apologize or both let it go. There's far too much at stake for this kind of petty, childishness to continue.

It makes me so mad I could spit.
