On Friendship.
Oct. 23rd, 2008 12:48 pmThe events of the last couple days have made me really aware of how blessed I am to be where I am. After letting everyone know about Tuesday's wallet suckage, I was bombarded with expressions of support and commiseration from just about everyone in New Town. (Even though I've been here for over a year now, it's still New Town. It'll always be New Town. Heh.) I've gotten emails, been stopped in the hall, had text messages, etc.
Last night,
foxxydancr picked me up at my house--because I can't use the bus right now--and brought me over to her place for dinner with her, her roommate, A., our mutual friend, C., and another friend whom I did not know well, but who turned out to be awesome. We ate chicken and stuffing until we were stuffed, then ate pie, enjoyed some tasty beverage, some silly internet stuff, and lots and lots of laughter. It was just what the doctor ordered.
A stolen wallet is a pain, but it's not the end of the world. And I am so lucky in so many subtle and obvious ways. Maybe I can even smile at the cold front that's heading our way.
...okay, that's kind of pushing it.
