A song that makes you cry
"A New Career in a New Town," David Bowie.
When it comes to crying, I'm kind of a weird duck. It's rare that I allow myself to cry over the things that happen in my own life (although there are certainly some notable exceptions), but I'm completely free when it comes to brimming up over films. I attribute this fact almost exclusively to the evocative power of film scores. Generally speaking, the instrumental song tends to hit me harder than the worded song. David Bowie's synth-driven ballad is - for me - one of the most haunting pieces of music ever composed. I can't quite explain my interpretation of it, but I can say that it never fails to dampen my eyes.
