Okay, I know I'm about to get shot for this one, but I seriously never got why Nirvana was so important. They were good, no question. But not that good. And I maintain that had Kurt Cobain not died so tragically young, Nirvana would have passed into a relatively mundane position in music history - much as Pearl Jam and other bands of that era/genre have done. Let hunting season commence.

Well, I for one am with you on that. Nirvana was just as good, I guess, as the Stones or Aerosmith, but, I've just never seen what the big deal was.

They certainly weren't as influential, or as perpetually popular, as the Beatles. Beatles songs will continue to be awesome for untold generations, but Nirvana will always be late 80s to early 90s rock.

Agreed. Though I actually always thought of Nirvana as kind of being in the "The Doors" category, myself. Good, but not make-a-pilgrimage-to-Paris good. ;>

The Stones are up with the Beatles for me, I have to admit, and I come down on the Stones side of Beatles vs. Stones. But that's just how I was raised. Heh
