Mixed CD Mayhem.
Jan. 19th, 2007 12:58 pmI readily enjoy the art of making a mixed CD, and I frequently make them to mark specific epochs in my life. As a natural course of this, I'm in the process of making a CD to commemorate my separation from J., and I've noticed something that is of course very obvious but has regardless never really sunk in until now.
All of the great break-up songs are from the point of view of the dumpee rather than the dumper. (Have you ever noticed that?) I guess not too many people write songs about laughing all the way to the bank, or something.
Anyway, since I'm the asshole here I've been having an interesting time in selecting music that fits the current headspace. All of the sad stuff, which does play a role however minuscule, is of the son-of-a-bitch-done-done-me-wrong variety and therefore totally inappropriate. Where are all the I'm-the-son-of-a-bitch-and-it-really-bums-me-out songs, huh? Where are they? I could use a couple.
Suggestions welcome and appreciated.
