...finding out that a series of large-scale earthquakes hit an area of Japan near where several friends live, sending out "everyone okay?" emails, and trying to wait patiently for confirmation that none of mine have found themselves in any serious danger.

Sleep will be very far away tonight.

EDIT: I have heard from all of my friends in Japan to state that they and their loved ones weathered the crisis, which was actually quite slight in Tokyo proper. Thanks to everyone who wrote in with words of support.

I'm sorry to hear that love. I know it's hard to wait, but remember if their replies aren't timely it could be as simple as a power outage (which while very annoying, most likely wouldn't be devistating.) Anyways, I hope you hear from them soon and that they are well and at least mostly happy (even if they are a little shaken.)

Yes, thank you. I was able to hear from all my friends. The past couple weeks have been hectic for me - working in my grandmother's old house and preparing for my move. I hope to catch up on your journal entries and give some feedback very soon.

Also heard a rumor that you were thinking of coming to Pitt for a visit... hope that's true, bro!
