Exhibition: Brancusi & Noguchi
Jul. 29th, 2007 04:43 pmThe Noguchi Museum in Queens, NY is featuring an exhibit (entitled "Survey of Paris Abstractions") that looks at the brief collaboration between the sculptors Constantin Brancusi and Isamu Noguchi. It's up until the 26th of August for anyone in the area who's interested in seeing it. Though my primary interests are on traditions stemming from pre-modern periods of history, I also enjoy examining various Diaspora, or cross-over, artists and how the weight of tradition plays (or does not play) upon their artistic production. This exhibition seems like fascinating look at the topic from an intriguing angle.
Of late, I've been trying to get back into the habit of keeping tabs on what's going on in the art world. I, very understandably, fell out of the practice while I was in Tokyo. I can't wait until I get moved. I'll be much better situated to take in some of these tremendous exhibits that are going on all over the East Coast.
